WordCamp Johannesburg is gathering pace – here’s a quick reportback.
We’ve already received 10 speaker applications. A strong start, but we want more.
We’re looking to review proposals and finalise the schedule soon, so if you’ve been thinking about speaking, get your application in. First-time speakers are welcome – mentorship and support are available if you want help shaping your talk.
Volunteer interest has been huge. People are ready, excited, and keen to get their hands dirty.
We’ll share more closer to the time. Most roles are on the day itself, so we need to lock down the schedule, sponsors, and speakers first. Once those are in place, we’ll come back with clearer details.
We’ve had interest from a mix of corporates, freelancers, and smaller supporters – and we’re in talks to get agreements signed before announcing anyone.
That said, we still need more sponsors to come on board. Sponsorship is what keeps tickets accessible and covers the practical costs of a full WordCamp day. If your company (or you as a freelancer) can help, we’d love to hear from you.
